Examining the Impact of the Pathways to Resilience Project in Jonglei and Eastern Equatoria
From December 2020 through January 2024, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) delivered the Pathways to Resilience project (P2R), a multi-sectoral response to food and nutrition insecurity in South Sudan. P2R reached over 680,000 individuals in counties which experienced decades of conflict and other natural shocks and stressors. With USAID and FAO resources, P2R contributed to significant improvements by project closure. In 2025, CRS conducted an ex post facto study to test the project’s ultimate goal of building durable resilience in the face of continued challenges and inform future programming. Results highlighted both how volatile the South Sudanese context was for P2R participants yet how effectively their resilience was built.
