A Partnership Against Malaria in The Gambia

This learning brief discusses how partnership and capacity strengthening may have influenced the success of malaria control interventions in The Gambia. The Gambia’s National Malaria Control Program saw malaria prevalence decrease dramatically from 4% in 2011 to 0.2% in 2014. Malaria case incidence also fell by 50% across all regions. Globally, the incidence of malaria declined by 21% among populations at risk, and by 35% among children under 5 between 2010 and 2015.  This brief also identifies opportunities for replication or adaptation by malaria control efforts in other countries.
