Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in Urban Resilience: Ghana and Sierra Leone

Analysis Report and Recommendations

In 2023 Catholic Relief Services (CRS) West Africa Regional Office (WARO) commissioned a gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) analysis to understand the specific effects of urbanization and factors for resilience on women, men, boys and girls and marginalized populations in secondary cities in Sierra Leone and Ghana. Findings and recommendations are organized by their impact on populations’ absorptive, adaptive, and transformative capacities. We are hopeful that the resulting findings and recommendations will be helpful for other country programs and teams during the design and implementation of Urban Resilience Programming. The full report and a summarized learning brief are available here.
