Does gender training influence seed entrepreneurs in adopting gender-sensitive business practices?
Although accessing agricultural inputs and extension services is a challenge for many farmers in Africa; female farmers have additional barriers. CRS-Zambia in partnership with Caritas-Chipate, implemented a gender-sensitive last-mile agent delivery model through 38 agents. Eleven months post-training, the agents adopted many gender-sensitive practices, such as adjusting products and services, altering payment terms, changing service time and connecting with gender stakeholders. The study showed the adoption of gender-sensitive practices occurs within a year of exposure to interactive, tailored gender training for last-mile agents.
