Media CenterWorking for a Better World – With You!

You are here

When asked why she works so hard every day, Carolyn Woo said, “The poor don’t get a lot but they get us and therefore they deserve the very best of us, not our second best.”

Dr. Woo’s new book, “Working for a Better World,” is the personal story of a young woman born in Hong Kong who lived by the rule her nanny told her: don’t play until you’ve finished your work. How she came to be the CEO and President of Catholic Relief Services and the road she’s traveled to get there is a compelling story filled with personal revelations and insights.

Would you like to help spread the word about “Working for a Better World”? We’re declaring the week of May 4-10 “Working for a Better World” Book Week. We want to hear how YOU are “working for a better world” and share your thoughts, hopes and ideas through social media.

If you want to participate, here are several ways to choose from:

  • Take a selfie holding a “#BetterWorldBook” sign. Share, using the hashtag #BetterWorldBook.
  • Write a blog post about how you, your family, your parish, your diocese, or the Church is “working for a better world,” and post a link to social media using the hashtag #BetterWorldBook. Examples might include:
    • Giving to CRS
    • Volunteering at a homeless shelter or food kitchen
    • Working with youth
    • Helping at a community garden
    • Raising money for those affected by disaster
  • Share an update with your “better world” ideas on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, or other social media, and use the hashtag #BetterWorldBook
  • Ask your friends and family if they know about the work of Catholic Relief Services. Share our web site crs.org on your Facebook page, and be sure follow us on Twitter @CatholicRelief. Spread the word and use the #BetterWorldBook hashtag.

We’ll be compiling all the posts with the #BetterWorldBook hashtag on this Rebelmouse page so it’s easy to see all the action.

Thanks for joining in on this week of spreading the news about “Working for a Better World”!
