Three prominent Catholic leaders will speak at a National Press Club Newsmakers news conference on Wednesday, September 16, highlighting the activities of the U.S. Catholic Church in response to Pope Francis’s groundbreaking encyclical on the environment, Laudato Si’ on the eve of the Pope’s visit to the United States.
Archbishop Thomas Wenski of Miami, FL, Bishop Oscar Cantú of Las Cruces, NM, and Dr.Carolyn Woo, President & CEO of Catholic Relief Services will discuss the U.S. Church’s efforts to teach and act on the vision of Pope Francis that connects our care for creation to our care for one another. Faced with many human and climatological crises, the call to protect the most vulnerable, those least able to adapt, is more critical than ever.
