Catholic Relief Services' (CRS) vice president for Government Relations and Advocacy, Bill O'Keefe, recently returned home from a trip to see first-hand CRS and Caritas Internationalis programs assisting refugees in Europe. In a recorded interview with America Magazine, O'Keefe describes his firsthand experience meeting the people and hearing the stories of the many refugees trying to seek a new life but there are many challenges getting in the way.

“Their children are not being educated; adults are not able to find jobs or be employed... so you have this period of limbo which just keeps going and going and that is why some of those people made the decision to migrate to Europe…you begin to lose hope in going back home and that is why you have to find somewhere else.”
