Executive Vice President, Human Resources
Shawn Mood joined Catholic Relief Services in April 2017. He serves as senior advisor to CRS’ president and Executive Leadership Team on all aspects of Human Resources, helping ensure CRS has the talent and commitment necessary to achieve its mission. He is responsible for overall management of recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compensation, benefits, staff care, employee services, learning, succession planning and headquarters facilities. In his role, Shawn also partners with senior leadership to build key initiatives and programs aimed at solid, agency-wide employee engagement.
Shawn has more than 25 years of experience supporting staff and operations in the United States and around the world, including in fragile states. Prior to joining CRS, Shawn held senior Human Resources roles with global development organizations like Save the Children, Pact and Abt Associates. He also worked in the software sector, helping U.S. companies expand their international footprint, including expatriate assignments in Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Poland.
Shawn has a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Colorado. He also holds a master’s degree in International Business from the University of South Carolina.

Shawn is active in the Human Resources community, serving as an advisory member for InsideNGO and as a board member for the Human Resource Certification Institute. Shawn originally hails from Colorado and holds dual U.S. and Irish citizenship. Shawn and his wife, Eileen, have four school-aged children and attend Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Kensington, Maryland.
