Biography
Shaun Ferris leads Catholic Relief Services' (CRS) global team of agriculture experts who work in 51 countries. Shaun focuses on supporting smallholder farmers along the pathway to prosperity: helping farmers recover from damage from drought, pests and plant diseases or other natural disasters and the increasing impact of climate change. HIs team promotes new agricultural practices and helps farmers grow into agripreneurs, fully engaged and connected with local markets and beyond. They teach new skills and educate on new seeds, techniques and technology.
Shaun has been working in agricultural innovation for more than 32 years with programs including global leaders like USAID, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the United Nation’s Food and Agricutlure Organization (FAO) as well as its Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the International Fund for Agricultral Development (IFAD), the United Kingdom's Department for International Development (DFID) and the Work Bank.
Prior to joining CRS, Dr. Ferris spent 16 years with the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research and has also worked with International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT).
