Biography

As head of Catholic Relief Services' (CRS) efforts in Mexico, Cecilia Suarez is a Central American migration expert who tackles an array of issues, including rural development; at-risk youth; farmworkers’ rights; and refugees and migration. With a focus on social cohesion and peace-building, Cecilia coordinates work with partner organizations that work with some of the country’s most vulnerable populations.

Additionally, Cecilia has coordinated efforts with local platforms to design and operate rural sustainable agriculture projects that provide opportunities to farmers who are coping with the devastating impacts of climate change.

Among these topics, Cecilia can also speak about the root causes of migration, the crisis on the U.S-Mexico border and the need for comprehensive immigration reform.
