About the Planned Giving Team
Richard Balmadier, Director of Planned Giving
Rich began his career at CRS in 1991 as an intern posted in Morocco. He spent the next 18 years working in a variety of CRS country programs in Africa and Asia and served as a Country Representative from 1994-2009. Rich has been Director of Planned Giving since 2009 and supervises a five-person team. Rich has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and an M.A. in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University.
Mae Richardson, PG Operations Manager
Mae joined CRS in March 2016. Before joining the Planned Giving team Mae worked for the Archdiocese of Baltimore for 18 years. Mae is responsible for assisting the director with PG strategic planning, streamlining PG Operations, developing and updating operational procedures, Legacy Circle management, and developing/managing existing multi-channel marketing strategy. Mae earned her B.A. from Mount Saint Mary’s University, her M.A. from St. Mary’s Seminary and Ecumenical Institute, and completed a certificate in Catholic Non-Profit Management at Notre Dame University. She is currently pursuing her MBA at the University of Maryland University College.
Kelli McHugh, Planned Giving Specialist
Kelli joined the CRS Planned Giving Team in July 2016 and is responsible for managing bequests and revocable trusts. Prior to joining CRS, Kelli was the Estate and Legacy Manager for The Salvation Army at their National Capital and Virginia Division Headquarters for nine years. Kelli has an MBA from Western Carolina University and a B.A. from Salem College where she majored in International Relations and History.
Kelly Markert, Planned Giving Specialist
Kelly joined the CRS Planned Giving Team in October of 2017 focusing on Charitable Gift Annuities and Beneficiary Designations. Prior to joining CRS, Kelly worked in the private sector as an attorney. Kelly particularly enjoyed working in the areas estate planning and elder law, and is excited to bring her experience to CRS. Kelly earned her J.D. from University of Baltimore School of Law, a B.S. in legal studies from University of Maryland University College, and a B.S. in Marketing from University of Maryland, College Park.
Laverne Brister, Planned Giving Administrative Assistant
Laverne has been with CRS since 2004. Before joining the Planned Giving Unit, she worked with the CRS Donor Stewardship team and prior to joining CRS, she worked in social services for 20 years.
