Help End Hunger
For more than 35 years, Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl has offered Catholics in the United States a way to connect with our brothers and sisters in need around the world through the traditional Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Nearly 13,000 faith communities across the United States participate in the program each Lent to demonstrate solidarity with the poor around the world.
CRS Rice Bowl develops resources to enrich the Lenten experience for parishes, schools, individuals and families. By praying with our families and faith communities, fasting in solidarity with those who hunger, learning more about the challenges of poverty overseas, and giving sacrificial contributions to support those in need, we can make a difference in our world.
Food Fast is a 24-hour fasting retreat for young people. Focusing on global poverty and hunger, Food Fast allows young people to journey with our brothers and sisters around the world.
When young people participate in Food Fast, they are learning about people around the world and are spending 24 hours in the shoes of people who go hungry. Just knowing how someone in poverty feels is the first step to bringing change to our world.
