A Christmas Message From Archbishop Timothy Dolan
It's hard to believe that the holidays are right around the corner. This year, we'd like to ask for your prayers for our dedicated staff around the world. They are the ones who help Catholic Relief Services reach out to 100 million people in more than 100 countries each year—people who are struggling to survive disease, hunger and poverty in times of war and natural disaster.
As you may know, this year CRS is marking the 65th anniversary of our humanitarian work overseas. We began our mission in 1943 by distributing supplies to U.S. and other Allied prisoners of war in camps in Europe and the Far East, and by assisting with the resettlement of European war refugees. Our very first project was at Santa Rosa, Mexico, where we created a safe haven for Polish refugees. CRS continues to support many projects throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
The holidays can be a difficult time for our staff overseas, oftentimes many miles away from their extended family and friends. Your prayers are especially needed and appreciated at this time of year.
Thank you for your support of CRS. We wish you, your family and loved ones a peaceful and pleasant holiday season.
May God bless you,
Most Reverend Timothy M. Dolan
Archbishop of Milwaukee
Chair, CRS Board of Directors
