In the spring of 2007, Dr. Annie Sparrow, the health and nutrition technical advisor on Catholic Relief Services' emergency response team, traveled to Baidoa, Somalia, to assess medical conditions. She found many people in need, especially recently displaced families that had fled an increase of violence in the capital of Mogadishu. CRS is now providing financial and technical assistance to the Caritas Somalia clinic in Baidoa, one of a handful of medical facilities in the area and one that provides free quality care to anyone who arrives at its door.
