CRS Work in Republic of the Congo
CRS works with the national Caritas Congo agency on an emergency preparedness and response training program. All seven diocesan Caritas agencies, a dozen local organizations, and representatives of government departments are taking part in a series of training workshops. The program aims to build local capacity in essential emergency skills such as conducting needs assessments, proposal writing, monitoring and evaluation, logistics, and finance management.
CRS also supports the development of diocesan and national Justice and Peace Commissions in the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville through training, exchange visits, research, and advocacy. In a country where peace is extremely fragile, local organizations play an important role in the promotion of peace and justice at both the community and the national level.
