CRS Work in Argentina
Catholic Relief Services supports the work of Caritas Argentina in providing humanitarian assistance through ongoing social and emergency programming. Caritas Argentina develops projects that promote human dignity, involving affected people as agents of their own change, supports local institutions, and encourages civic participation to build a just Argentinean society. CRS and our partner Caritas Argentina stand in solidarity with the people of Argentina, aiding their development and focusing on the country's most vulnerable people.
Coordinating with civil society groups and the government of Argentina, Caritas Argentina also establishes or strengthens programs in the area of human rights, citizen participation, social values, and community development.
Specific examples of Caritas projects that will be supported by the In Solidarity with Argentina initiative include the following:
- Strengthening After School Programs: Caritas offers poor children the opportunity to study together in after-school centers that provide the tutoring and resources young people need to remain in school.
- Essential Medicines Distribution Program: Caritas Argentina has developed a network of local distribution centers to provide urgently needed pharmaceuticals to patients in need.
