Employee Benefits
The following is an overview of the benefits offered at Catholic Relief Services:
Medical Coverage
CRS provides comprehensive medical, vision and prescription coverage for U.S.-based and international staff. Employees contribute 15.5 percent of the cost of the plan.
Dental Coverage
CRS provides generous, contributory dental coverage.
403(b) Retirement Plan
Eligible employees may make pre-tax or Roth after-tax contributions. After 6 months of employment, CRS matches employees contributions at 50 cents for every dollar contributed up to 6 percent of salary. Employee and employer contributions are immediately 100 percent vested.
Overseas Retirement Plan for Non-U.S. Citizens
Eligible employees who are not U.S. citizens and do not pay U.S. taxes may make after-tax contributions. After 6 months of employment, CRS matches employee contributions at 50 cents for every dollar contributed up to 6 percent of salary. Employee and employer contributions are immediately 100 percent vested.
Pension Plan
CRS offers a defined benefit retirement plan completely funded by CRS. Vesting is 100 percent after 5 full years of service. The retirement income benefit is 2 percent of final average earnings multiplied by years of service. The maximum benefit is 50 percent of final average earnings.
Holidays
CRS provides 12 paid holidays each year for all full-time staff.
Vacation
U.S.-based employees earn 15 vacation days per year and international employees earh 20 days per year.
Sick Time
Employees earn 12 days per year.
Personal Business Days
Employees earn 6 days per year.
Tuition Reimbursement
After 6 months of service, with some restrictions, CRS pays up to $2,200 per semester for approved courses (maximum 3 courses per semester).
Flexible Spending Accounts
These accounts enable employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to be used for reimbursement of dependent care expenses, health care expenses and parking or transit passes.
Short Term Disability
Employees may receive 60 percent of their pay if temporarily disabled for up to 6 months.
Long Term Disability
Employees may receive 60 percent of their pay after 6 months of short term disability. Both short term and long term disability are fully paid by CRS.
Maternity Leave
Eligible employees may receive 6 to 8 weeks fully paid maternity leave.
Parental Leave
New fathers or adoptive parents may be eligible for 10 days of paid parental leave.
Adoption Benefits
Eligible employees may be reimbursed for fees related to the adoption of a child and may be eligible for paid adoption leave.
Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
Employees are covered by a death benefit of 2 times annual salary and an additional accidental death benefit of 2 times annual salary.
Supplemental Life Insurance
Employees may elect to purchase additional life insurance and may also elect to purchase coverage for spouse and children.
International Staff Benefits
Employees may be eligible for airfare for annual home leave; international employees contribute up to a maximum of 7.5 percent of base salary to their housing at post; CRS funds eligible education costs for children of international employees.
