U.S. Based Staff Benefits Package

  • In general, employees who are hired by CRS for a minimum of 35 hours per week are eligible for the benefits below. Employees working fewer than 35 hours may be eligible for pro-rated benefits.

Health & Welfare Plans

  • GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE: Eligible upon date of hire; coverage is provided through a PPO network and includes medical, vision and prescription coverage worldwide. Learn more about health insurance costs.
  • DENTAL: Eligible upon date of hire; coverage is provided through a PPO network. The plan covers diagnostic, preventive, restorative and orthodontic care.
  • FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT (FSA): Eligible upon date of hire; allows employees to contribute money to an FSA via pre-tax payroll deductions for unreimbursed health care expenses or eligible child and adult dependent care expenses that are not reimbursable from any other source.
  • SHORT-TERM DISABILITY: Eligible upon date of hire (as of January 1, 2021); 100% funded by CRS.
  • LONG-TERM DISABILITY: Eligible after 6 months of employment; 100% funded by CRS.
  • BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Eligible upon date of hire; 100% funded by CRS.
  • ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT INSURANCE: Eligible upon date of hire; 100% funded by CRS.
  • SUPPLEMENTAL LIFE INSURANCE: Eligible upon date of hire; 100% funded by employee. Coverage available for employee and eligible dependents.
  • BUSINESS TRAVEL ACCIDENT: Eligible upon date of hire; 100% funded by CRS for employees traveling on official CRS business. Beneficiary paid $500,000 upon employee death.
  • EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PLAN: Eligible upon date of hire; 100% funded by CRS for employees and household members. Provides confidential support services to assist in resolving personal and professional concerns or problems as well as referrals in the U.S. to legal, financial, or dependent care services.
  • WELLNESS PLAN: Eligible upon date of hire; 100% funded by CRS. Offers tools, programs and coaching services to assist CRS employees with improving their overall physical, social, career, financial and emotional well-being.

Retirement Plans

DEFINED CONTRIBUTION 403(B) PLAN

  • Employees are eligible to participate in the 403(b) plan upon date of hire. The employee must have a valid U.S.-issued Social Security number to participate in the 403(b) plan.
    • Generous employer match and automatic contributions starting after six months of employment.
    • All contributions are immediately vested.

Leave

  • VACATION LEAVE 15 paid business days per year
  • SICK LEAVE 12 paid business days per year
  • HOLIDAYS 12 paid holidays per year
  • PERSONAL BUSINESS 4 days per year
  • PAID PARENTAL LEAVE: Eligible after 6 months of employment; available to new birth parents, adoptive parents, and foster parents.
  • FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE: Eligible after 12 months of employment.

Additional Benefits

  • TUITION ASSISTANCE: Eligible after 6 months of employment, employees may receive up to $5,200 per fiscal year.
  • CRS FITNESS FACILITY: Eligible upon date of hire; employee may use the onsite facility for $20 per month.
  • STATE EMPLOYEES CREDIT UNION (SECU): Free membership to employees and members of their immediate family.
  • MEDICAL EVACUATION: Eligible upon date of hire; 100% funded by CRS. Medical emergency evacuation service for employees when traveling overseas for CRS.
  • PARKING: Discounted monthly parking rate at a local garage. (Baltimore HQ Only).
  • STATE EMPLOYEES CREDIT UNION (SECU): Free membership to employees and members of their immediate family.

Employees may enroll eligible dependents through proof of relationship. As a Catholic agency, CRS designs and conducts its benefit programs consistent with Catholic values and teaching. This extends to the nature of the services provided and determining eligibility for dependent coverage, as well as the definition of marriage and spousal relationships. (cf. Expatriate Staff Benefits Package

  • VACATION LEAVE: 20 paid business days per year (Please note, Expatriate Staff who work as Expatriate Telecommuters receive 15 days per year)
  • SICK LEAVE: 12 paid business days per year

  • PERSONAL BUSINESS: 4 paid business days per year
  • PAID PARENTAL LEAVE: Eligible after 6 months of employment; available to new birth parents, adoptive parents, and foster parents.
  • FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE: Eligible after 12 months of employment.
  • HOME LEAVE: Eligible after one year; employees receive up to three (3) days (up to 21 hours) of travel time based on actual duration of travel along with the cost of airfare for employees and eligible dependents.

  • ALLOWANCES: CRS may provide the following allowances for employees and their families: housing, education, cost of living, relocation, shipping, and hazard and hardship.
  • TUITION ASSISTANCE: After 6 months of employment, employees may receive up to $5,200 per fiscal year for approved courses.
  • STATE EMPLOYEES CREDIT UNION (SECU): Free membership to employees and members of their immediate family.
